Lighthouse Center Bakery

Terrific vegetarian-only lunch fare, baked goods, and fresh-baked artesian bread. It's out in the country (in Umpqua, population 112) and I'm always amazed at how busy they are. Plan on a short wait, but it'll be worth it. Their fresh soups are stunning, as are their vegetarian sandwiches and vegetarian burgers. Save room for a baked sweet on the drive home. It's an egalitarian mix of customers -- I've seen logging trucks drivers, farmers, and winery owners run in to pick up a takeout order, professionals from Roseburg, families with young children, couples with mom and dad or grandma and grandpa having a special lunch. Best of all, people always seem to be on their best behavior there.
