Kenah Shinn

I have a three year old existing injury that is still painful to this day because of the negligence and ignorance of the staff at this hospital. I broke a small bone in my foot from jumping into a shallow pool. Upon arriving at the hospital I told the doctor that my foot was obviously broken. It had swollen twice the size, and was excruciatingly painful. I got an x-ray and an exam from the doctor. My first clue that the doctor didn't know what he was doing was that he tried to force me to walk on my foot. He insisted i step down on it even though I told him I was in extreme pain and could not. This was before they even got the x-ray back. After they got the x-ray, they said my foot was NOT broken. In-fact it was, I learned when they called me THREE DAYS LATER after looking at it a second time. After the three days had passed I came back to be treated. The doctor gave me a boot, to which I said that it felt like my foot was being pulled down, which obviously would be a bad thing to be doing for a fractured bone. He didn't listen, again. So, I wore the boot for the time he told me to wear it, about one month. I went back in after that time, feeling a little better. One day after the boot was off, I was in pain again. I went to the doctor the next day and told him that I was still in pain and didn't believe I was healed. He acted like I was lying, he was extremely condescending, and basically told me he couldn't do anything for me and suggested I go to someone else. I did, I went to Portland, I got another x-ray. By this time about three months had passed since the injury. The x-ray revealed that MY BONE WAS STILL FRACTURED. The doctor that originally treated me tried to make me walk on a broken foot, told me it wasn't broken, then when he realized it was broken he treated it incorrectly which resulted in an injury that should have been healed in one month, still not healed after FOUR. Because this doctor mistreated me from the very beginning this injury still is painful today, it healed wrong because he did not listen to a word a said the whole way through. I've been told by another doctor that because of my original doctors mistreatment, I would have to re-break the bone and go through the healing process again. He also said I probably have nerve damage because I was treated with a boot when I clearly shouldn't have been. I've never gone back to this hospital again and I've heard similar stories about their radiology department. If you want to heal properly please do not go to this hospital! Go to Seaside hospital, they listen and actually follow correct procedures for injuries, which I feel is not too much to ask from a HOSPITAL.
